"This is the only place where we can let go of our emotions, the sadness that we’ve been feeling. But right now, we really need this, we want this concert to push through even without Mercy.
This is also for her, because I know it was her dream, her wish to continue performing before she had surgery. She even said she wanted to come home, to join us in this concert, but sadly, she’s gone. We really have to carry on."
A Song for Mercy, and the Best of Aegis
For a group built around family, Mercy’s loss was felt on every stage. The remaining members have been open about how hard it is to perform without Mercy, and Juliet has said that there will be no replacement for Mercy, who will always be part of Aegis.
In October 2025, the band answered that grief with music. Their single "Sa Huling Pag-Uwi Mo," released on October 24, 2025, is a song dedicated to Mercy Sunot. The title speaks of a final homecoming, and it fits a band whose songs have always given Filipinos words for longing and loss.
This time the heartbreak was their own, and the song carries that, a farewell sung by the people who knew her best.
A few weeks later, on November 20, 2025, the band marked the moment with their "Best of Aegis" concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, Manila, with Kahel as guest band. It was a homecoming of its own.
Newport was the stage of their first major concert there in 2017, "Aegis na Aegis: The Story of Us," which went on to win Best Major Concert from the Aliw Awards Foundation.
